"When I moved to Utah I needed in state insurance fast and so I looked around, when I found Jeff shumway I called him and he quickly helped me get settled in, he took the time to find me the best rates and applied every discount possible to assure the best price. I’ve been with him for almost 8 years. Now I’m Forced to switch to a different agent because I moved back to California. I sure wish they would let us keep the same agent even if we are in a different state, thanks Jeff for being there when I needed you and for taking the time to help me find another agent in a different state. "A few weeks ago I requested a quote on auto insurance from a website that sends you to several providers. As expected I was contacted by several of the different providers but State Farm stood out for a particular reason after I had made my decision and chose to go with another company instead of graciously accepting that decision, or attempting to find out more on why I made that decision the agent that contacted me immediately began to berate and to belittle the company that I had chosen to go with telling me how horrible of company they were. In my opinion this is the most unprofessional way to go about trying to sell your product and has put me off of State Farm permanently. I did however go ahead and do a little bit more research about the company I had chosen as well as State Farm I used the better business bureau to find out more information on both companies now for professional reasons (I'm not writing this to sway clients to go to them) I will not name the other company but I will say their Better Business Bureau rating was an A+, the Better Business Bureau rating for State Farm was only a C+. Neither company pays the BBB to be affiliated, and so their rankings are based on the same criteria. To the management of this State Farm agent I would suggest some training on how to sell the benefits of your product versus attacking the product of someone else. That is and always will be the least professional way of approaching a sale, and in this case it's simply resulted in me finding out that I had made the right decision by going with an A+ rated company versus a C+ plus rated company. In the future I hope that you train your agents to have the wherewithal to ask questions about why the decision was made instead of attacking the decision. Again it was not only unprofessional but it immediately put me on the defensive losing you any chance to make a future customer out of me, and earning a bad review in the process. Seems to me that is a horrible way to approach trying to win business for your agency. Oh and please stop calling me, I have already told you I am not interested. Best of luck to you in the future.
